Fiji Eye care is a charitable organisation that provided eyecare and surgery to some of the poorest people in Fiji. This is an organisation supported by the St Clair Hindi fellowship.
Fiji Eye Project director UnitingWorld, Chris David, commented about the trip to Fiji saying "The team will be based at Lautoka Hospital for the whole period of time and perform cataract surgery for a total of nine days. This year the team is expecting to perform 120 cataract surgeries," Mr David said, adding that it will be done free of charge. "It provides free cataract surgery to the poor and the underprivileged people of Fiji sponsored by UnitingWorld, an agency of the national Assembly of the Uniting Church in Australia." Mr David said the team was also supported by St Clair Uniting Church, St Clair Uniting Church Hindi Fellowship NSW (former members of the Indian Division of the Methodist Church in Fiji) and the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma.
The following companies donated machines and medications:-Dr Jay Chandra, Mike and Ann Kumar and Alcon Australia.
